Milling machines are designed to remove carriageway pavements when repairing traffic areas of all kinds. The machine is operated by one driver who steers the machine, sets the required milling depth and monitors the transfer of the milled material to a truck by a loading conveyor. The reclaimed material is of finely granulated that it can be refused to produce new asphalt in a mixing plant. The required milling depht can be set on both sides of the operators platform. This means each course can be removed accurately without damaging the course underneath. The milled surface is levelled and serrated to ensure a firm bond with new paving to be applied. The milling i.e. edge of the remaining pavement is vertical and is also seperated to ensure a firm bond with newly laid material. The new pavement ties in with existing pavement to form a straight line and without allowing water or dirt to penerate.
